ABOUT ME

I am a Commodore! I went to Vanderbilt University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Mathematics and Secondary Education. Then, I returned to Vanderbilt and earned a Master of Education in Learning and Instruction. While at Vanderbilt, I was involved in Kappa Delta Epsilon, an educational honor society, I was president of Alpha Omicron Pi, a women's fraternity, and I was a Research Assistant under Drs. Doug and Lynn Fuchs. My graduate capstone project focused on the alignment of practices in the math classroom with the practices of mathematicians. I strongly believe that the math classroom should not only prepare students with skills and concepts, but should also prepare them with the critical reasoning skills that they will need in their future.

I originally grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I went to Adlai E. Stevenson High School where we were the Patriots! I was excited to be a Patriot once again at OHS! This is my fifth year at Oakland High School and I am looking forward to another year of learning together!

I love volleyball! I played competitively in high school (I was a libero/DS, so it was okay that I wasn't tall!). My family was my inspiration and is still playing and coaching! My brother coaches volleyball at the College of Coastal Georgia, and my sister-in-law played for Illinois State University and coached high school and club volleyball. However, volleyball isn't my only sports interest! I am a big Chicago Cubs fan, have become a big supporter of Vanderbilt football, and have played almost every sport while growing up: soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, skating, gymanstics, karate, and more!

A couple of extras: I love dogs and at the left is a picture of my dog, Sophie! My favorite color is purple. I am creative and enjoy jewelry making, sewing, and anything else "crafty"!
